Marin Headlands

On the same trip to Muir Woods, we returned to Marin Headlands, where the views to San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge are amazing.

Sam and Sara joined me, Sarah and Kylie for the trip.

We had a picnic lunch near the Point Bonita Lighthouse, which we again couldn't get to as the tunnel door was again locked.

But I took advantage of the views with several photographs.

Sarah and I had visited in the smoke heading to Napa.  It was beautiful then, but even better this time.

On the way there, the usual Golden Gate Bridge photo.

Slightly different vantage point, but earlier in the week in the smoke.

Muir Woods

While visiting Kylie in San Francisco, we decided to visit Muir Woods National Monument.

Sarah booked a parking space and off we went, first over the Golden Gate Bridge, then through Marin Headlands before our appointed time of 1:00 for the visit to the park.

Sarah and the kids wanted to take a long hike.

My bum knee said no, so I followed them down the paved path along the creek, then sent them up a hiking trail while I followed the easy route to Bridge 4, then returned.

They were to take two hours so I had some time to walk and take photos of the site.

What a spectacular place.

Bye Family.  See you in two hours.

Birthday in Napa

A few months ago, Sarah decided that the family would spend Thanksgiving in San Francisco where our daughter, Kylie, is on a work assignment.

This year. my birthday, November 20, fell only two days before Thanksgiving, so it would be celebrated while on the West Coast.

Sarah and I booked a trip to Napa to give Kylie some space and us a visit with good friend Suellen.

We met her in the town of Napa on Monday night for a walking tour of the cute town and dinner.

Then for my birthday, Suellen offered to take a scooter ride around Napa Valley for a wine tasting and lunch.

We rode her Vespa 250 GTS while she led on an old Vespa ET4.

The weather was almost perfect, if a little cool.

We stopped for a wine tasting and purchase at V Sattui Winery, then lunch in St. Helena.

The 30 mile ride back to Napa was the highlight as the sun was low and the roads perfect.

What a great way to celebrate a birthday!

Picking up the scooters at Suellen's.

Sarah and the scooters in front of The French Laundry, one of the finest
restaurants in the world.  No, we didn't dine there.

Wine tasting.

Suellen's wine purchase strapped to the back of her ET4.

We parked in front of this wonderful Victorian building in St. Helena.

Riding out of a fancy winery.

On the beautiful ride back to Napa.
